Portrait

Here is a photo of me that I found from a 'Service day' project my work team participated in in 2018.  We are mostly IT folks, but I was allowed on the 'Red Team' (The power tools users) since I have handyman experience.  Someone took this photo of me with my back towards them, near the end of the day, while I was helping one of our guys put together a play structure.

We had worked most of the day, so my hands are dirty, everything is grubby and we were all tired.  I was totally in my comfort Zen zone at that point. I really like this photo because of that.

Working on some Christmas Trees

A couple of request jobs...
Check out the cool stool - used MC pillion seat on a swivel
I drew a grid on the welding table to line up the project.  I do that to help with alignment.  If  you look at the table, you can see the 'golden spiral' I used on the previous weld up.

Welding project layout

Laying out the next welding project :

UPDATE - FEB 2020  - Completed Project:

Walnut base, glass orb and welded sculpture, ready to hang.  (Custom bracket included)

I created a custom hanger - once bracket is mounted to wall, art can be rehung any direction without removing the bracket from the wall.  Simply lift off the art piece, rotate and rehang.

Noodle Soup

Somedays, nothing hits the spot like a hot bowl of Noodle soup.  I needed to upgrade my bowl with some accessories.

First - Check out the AMAZING Bowl cozy that Callie May made for her pa!!   Beautiful craftsmanship!!!  (and the color is super!)

Noodles were hot an delicious, and I was able to get them back to my desk without BURNING MY FINGERS OFF !!!  THANKS CALLIE !!!

Second - I made a walnut lid for the bowl on the lathe - this way the noodles stay hot longer, and less likely to slosh out.

Vintage Bed Restore - 2

Finally have the veneer glued down, used Bondo to fill the gouges and rough spots, and getting some primer sprayed on.

BTW; my 'Spray Booth" is actually a bunch of plastic hung in the garage.  Kind of a pain to put up - takes about an hour to set up.

Tiki Hive

No real reason why . . . but had to make a Tiki Hive.

Colony of Carniolans in it, busy making honey!

Vintage Bed restore

I am working on putting back together a vintage bed frame.  The veneer is badly damaged.  The plan is to repair what I can, and paint it white.  This bed was owned by Grandparents or Great Grandparents, and will be used by Grand kids. . . 5 or 6 generations of use there.

The first step is to replace the previous repair of a broken foot post.  Not perfect, but my first attempt at trying to replicate anything on the lathe.

Kiln Adventure - Chapter 2

During the initial move process for the kiln, I tweaked the original stand out of alignment.  I am not sure it is repairable.  Looks Pretty bad.  You can even see it in the background of the earlier photo of the Prius.

So, I decided to make a replacement.  While I am at it, I considered adding wheels, so I can move the kiln around the garage, , , , I mean the Old Raven Workshop.  So utilizing some salvaged bed frame (always a great day when I can score some curbside bed frame - "Po' man's angle iron" !) and some casters from Bo, I put together this stand.

I am not sure how well the wheels will hold up to the heat.  they are hard rubber, and are not directly under the kiln.  If I find they are melting, I may have to replace with steel, but for now, it sure makes it easy to move the kiln around.  I also hade a spare can of cool purple spray paint.

Kinda looks like R2D2 a little bit.

Now to get some power lined up.  (that might be a couple of months yet)

Golf Club Coat Hook

I have been planning on making one of these for a long time.  I suspect they will be better seller than the 'shift knob' coat hooks I made (which are all sold now.)   :)
