Beginning of an idea

I always liked the work on the http://blueskyheart.com/ web site.  Especially the way some of the desktops appears to have light emanating from them.  I am working on a new idea, that I hope will capture that same effect, but in a real world piece.  Here is the start...

I am really excited to see where this project evolves from here!

Makin' stuff and breaking stuff

Have you ever noticed that James Bond is rather an ass?  The ‘bad’ guys spend years planning, developing and implementing a very impressive scheme.  There is usually quite a bit of top notch project planning and management of resources and staff behind these ‘evil’ projects.  Then along comes our ‘hero’ James Bond to save the day.  He then proceeds to ruin everything, all in the name of ‘saving the world’.

It makes me think of a 5th grader who spent all weekend working on his science fair project, only to have the hallway bully destroy it Monday morning as he walks into school.  James Bond is very much the 5th grade hall way bully, breaking every one else’s really cool science fair projects, and creating nothing of his own.   What a wanker.

Locust Wood Table

Coffee Table / End Table / Occasional Table

Made from locally harvested Locust Wood (Nebraska/ Iowa area).  Finished with a light 'Provencal' stain and lacquer top coat.   Grandmas farm house had a floor register like this one in the main bedroom. I remember as little kid looking down through the vent at the adults as they gathered around the kitchen table playing cards.

Locust is a little harder and heavier than oak.

The vent still works, check out the video!

Business Card Holder - with a 'spin'

Someone asked for a business card holder with a 'spin.

I mounted a base of Walnut and Oak on a small saw blade using a small 'Lazy Susan'.  Card holder does have a bit of a 'spin'.

Waterfall idea

I wanted to try out a waterfall idea.  I wanted a waterfall that had a small pool of water.  I needed a container or a base to create the small pool.
Started with a steel Air Compressor
tank, cut it in half.

Then added legs to allow overhang on the pond
(maybe counterbalance with bricks on the back side)

After making the basic waterfall structure, I coated the inside surfaces with spray on truck bed liner.  I wanted to remove the metal-to-water contact points.
Then add plumbing, and a pond....
I will be updating the flag stone and waterfall rocks in the near future.  I put this together with what we had in the yard to see if we liked it.  The concept is good, so now it is time to find some flagstone.

Jerry Can Table

While this won't fit in the decor scheme for designers who like to follow the trend, I bet there is a perfect spot for this table somewhere.  Vintage military Jerry Can with oak legs to create a one-of-a-kind end table, hallway table or bedside nightstand.

Perfect for a Zombie-bunker, Post-apocalyptic fortress, Doomsday shelter, Teenagers room, Man cave, Pool hall, Bar, Office, Smoking area, Parlor or living room  . . . I believe Mad Max has one of these in his Foyer (he tosses his car keys and wallet there after a long day of fighting outland road warriors)
