Architectural Salvage Coffee Table

Coffee table made from oak, steel angle iron and antique floor air return.  Some of the oak is construction salvage; the steel is from network wiring race and a bed frame, and the air return grate was obtained at a junk sale.
Coffee table - salvage materials - steel and oak with lacquer finish

Pumpkin kitty checking it out

Fits nicely in the room

We found the air return floor grate at a farm yard junk sale with 'the Paula'.  I picked it up with this project loosely in mind.

Here are the original parts - air return grate and

I like to have the canine assistants in the shop to help with projects.  I wanted a way to open the garage door, yet keep them from running into the street or from chasing squirrels in the front yard.

I think I have it figured out.
'Cattle Panel' sections from Tractor Supply - I cut
them into shorter lengths and connected
them using chain links.

A couple of eye bolts in the garage door
moulding.  Slip the grate over it and
drop a piece of rebar through the
eye bolts

Puppies stay in garage and have run of the back yard
(Doggie door in back of shop).

Coat hook rack - Walnut base and hooks made from up-cycled tools.

The lighter colored steel contrasts nicely with the darker Walnut.
Happy with how this one tuned out.
Walnut turned out really good

Scrap iron and wrenches.  Lacquer finish on the wood.

New item on the Esty site.  The Old Raven had a custom request, and during the construction process, two units were made.  One for the custom job, the other is on sale on the Etsy web site.  Check it out!

Waste Basket lamp.  Bottom was missing when I found it for sale.  added a bottom using welded wire and the MIG welder.  Setting it out side for a week with a little salt on it gave it a nice coating of rust on the replacement bottom (top ?)  A quick dry scrub and some poly coat sealed it up nice.

Still puttering away....

Almost done with the furniture refinishing project; but while waiting for paint to dry I made a really cool business card holder.  Actually I made two.  One for my new job and one for sale on Esty.
